Search · Google Business Profile

The profile worked weekly, not claimed once.

Your listing is the single free asset that decides whether you appear in Maps. Most operators fill in half the fields once and never open it again.

The short answer

What Google Business Profile management actually is: the listing worked weekly, not claimed once.

Google Business Profile management is ongoing work on the free listing that decides whether you show up in Maps and in the three-result map pack. Categories, services, service area, photos, posts, questions, review replies. Claiming it takes ten minutes. Ranking with it is the job.

Two different things share this name. Managing your own listing is a login task: you sign in, search your business, edit the panel. Hiring somebody to manage it is a program. This page is about the second one.

Google reads the profile as a set of fields, and on most listings we open, half of them sit empty. Primary category wrong. Secondary categories unused. Services not listed. Service area unset. No products. Questions nobody answered.

Posting matters less than the fields do, and we will say that out loud rather than sell you a post quota. A post is a freshness and conversion signal. It works because the profile underneath it is complete.

Ask an assistant who to call in your town and it reads the same data Google does: your categories, your hours, your review text, the site you link to. Thin fields feed a thin answer, and now that answer sits above the links.

The map pack, measured town by town Real scan
A real map-pack grid scan: 49 checkpoints across a metro, each bubble colored by where one business ranks in the local map results at that spot

A real scan: 49 checkpoints, one live map lookup each. Green means the map pack, grey means invisible at that spot. This is how we measure the work, spot by spot, not by searching from the office chair.

What arrives

What you get: 6 things worked on the profile, on a stated cadence.

  • 01

Categories set against the money terms

One primary category chosen from what is actually ranking in your towns, plus the secondary categories that widen you without diluting you. This single field moves position more than anything else on the listing.

  • 02

    Every service listed and described

Each service you sell entered as its own item with real copy under it, not one line that says the trade name. Empty service lists are the most common gap on a profile we take over.

  • 03

Posts published on a stated cadence

A steady weekly rhythm, cadence agreed in writing per engagement. Offers, jobs finished, seasonal work, answers to the question you get asked on every call. Written to be read by a buyer comparing three listings.

  • 04

    Questions seeded and answered

The questions-and-answers block on your listing is public and anyone can post in it, including a competitor. We fill it with the real questions first so the useful answer is the one sitting there.

  • 05

    Reviews requested and replied to

A request that goes out while the job is still fresh, plus replies written to read like a person wrote them. Review count and reply rate both feed map-pack ranking, and both sit entirely inside your control.

  • 06

    Position measured on a grid

We check where the profile ranks from points spread across your service area rather than from your own address. First at the shop and eleventh four miles out is the normal starting picture, and one average hides it.

Fit

Who this fits: 4 signs it is you.

Profile work pays back fastest when there is demand in your towns and a listing that has been sitting untouched. If the listing is already worked properly, we will tell you that instead of billing you.

This is you if:

  • You claimed the profile once, and nobody has opened it since.
  • You rank first at your own address and vanish four miles out.
  • A competitor doing worse work sits above you in Maps.
  • You answer the phone yourself and want more of those calls.

This is not you if:

  • You have no verifiable address or defined service area. Google will not verify you without one.
  • You want keywords stuffed into the business name. That is a suspension risk.
  • You only need help signing into your own listing. That is a support question, not a retainer, and the answer is free.
  • You need calls this week. Profile work compounds over months, and paid search is the tool for a deadline.

How the work runs

How it runs: 4 steps, then a weekly rhythm.

  1. 01

    Read the fields

Every field on your listing checked against the profiles currently ranking in your towns, so the gap is documented before anything gets changed.

  2. 02

    Fix the foundation

Categories, services, service area, hours, products, photos: corrected first, because these move faster than anything else here and cost nothing but attention.

  3. 03

    Set the cadence

Posts, review requests, question answers running on a fixed weekly rhythm, so the listing keeps signalling activity instead of going quiet after month one.

  4. 04

    Re-measure the grid

The same grid run again on a monthly cycle, so you watch the radius move outward rather than take a ranking claim on trust.

Running a fence company across three states meant living inside these listings, one per market, each one a phone line that either rang or did not. We work yours the way we worked ours.

Search

What it costs: published, not quoted.

Profile management is core to the Local Engine at $1,500 a month, with the profile worked every week. Posting cadence is agreed in writing per engagement. The Market Engine at $3,000 a month runs the same profile work across every market you serve and folds the directory listings into the outreach program the profile leans on.

Start on the Local Engine. Move up to the Market Engine when you are ready to own more than one town, and to the In-House Engine when you want a marketing department without the hire.

How the monthly work runs

Search & SEO pricing
Tier Price What moves the number
Local Engine Get found where you already work: the map pack and the searches that ring the phone. $1,500 per month The price is flat. What changes is where the effort points: a harder town, or more services, means the same monthly hours aimed at fewer targets, and we say which before you sign. Page counts and posting frequency are agreed in writing per engagement, so scope cannot quietly drift. Not included. Multi-market page coverage, expanded listings and the AI-search program at full strength are the Market Engine. We would rather tell you when you are ready for it than sell it to you early.
Market Engine Own every town you serve: coverage pages, AI-search visibility, listings everywhere that counts. $3,000 per month How many markets and how many services. The price is flat, and the page program inside it is agreed up front, in writing, so the scope cannot quietly drift. Not included. Placements on other platforms, PR-grade link campaigns, social management, video creative and conversion testing are the In-House Engine, and it is capacity-capped.
In-House Engine Everything, run for you: search, content, placements, PR-grade links, social presence, video creative, conversion work, quarterly strategy. $6,000 per month Capacity, not scope creep. We run a small number of these engagements at a time so the work stays deep rather than spread thin across too many accounts. Not included. We still do not sell paid ad management, and we still will not commit to a monthly number of editorial links. Both get the same answer at every tier. This tier is also capacity-capped: a few seats, run deep, and we will say plainly if one is not open yet.

Objections and questions

Questions we get asked: 6 answers.

These are the questions operators actually ask about the listing, including the two most agencies would rather you did not.

Ask us something else

How do I manage my Google Business Profile?

Sign in to the Google account that owns the listing, search your business name, and the edit panel appears in the results. That is the whole answer, and it costs nothing. What the panel will not tell you is which primary category your competitors rank under, which of your services are missing, or why you disappear four miles from your own front door. Managing the listing is a login. Ranking with it is a program, and that is what this page sells.

How much does Google Business Profile management cost?

It sits inside our Local Engine at $1,500 a month, which covers the profile worked every week, the site's pages worked every month, citations kept correct, the review engine running, technical upkeep, plus a monthly report and a real call. The Market Engine at $3,000 a month runs that same work across every market you serve and adds the social profiles, the link outreach program, the AI-search program at full strength and conversion testing. Page counts and posting frequency are agreed in writing per engagement. The price is flat at either tier, and what changes is how many towns and services the work is pointed at.

Is Google Business Profile management worth paying for?

Not always, and we would rather say so now than three months in. If your categories are right, your services are all listed, you post yourself, plus you reply to every review inside a day, you are already doing most of this and a retainer would mostly buy you a report. The free Snapshot will flag that outright at no cost. Where it does pay is the common case: a profile claimed once years ago, half the fields empty, a competitor eight miles out taking the calls.

How long does it take to rank in the map pack?

Field fixes move first. Correcting the primary category, filling out services, setting the service area properly: those can shift position inside 30 to 60 days because Google reprocesses the profile quickly. Review volume and the pages that support the listing compound over 4 to 6 months. Proximity never changes, so the realistic target is not first everywhere. It is first across the part of your service area where you are close enough to compete, then pushing that edge outward.

Can I get suspended for editing my Google Business Profile?

Yes, and it happens more often than people expect. The usual causes are keywords stuffed into the business name, a virtual office or mailbox used as the address, hours you do not actually keep, or a second listing created for one location. A suspension pulls you out of Maps entirely while you appeal, which can run weeks. We will not stuff a name for you even on request, because the bump lasts until it does not and the recovery costs more than it earned.

Do Google Business Profile posts actually help rankings?

Barely, on their own, and an agency selling you posts alone is selling the cheapest visible thing it can produce. A post is a freshness and conversion signal rather than a ranking lever. What posts do well is fill the panel a buyer is already staring at, answer an objection before the phone call, keep an offer in front of somebody comparing three listings. We post to it every week because that earns a place next to the field work, not instead of it.
