Build · Wix & Squarespace
Stuck on a builder? We work there too.
Most operators on Wix or Squarespace outgrow it the same way: a catalog it cannot carry, a speed ceiling it cannot clear, or simply wanting to own the whole site outright instead of renting the platform under it. When that is you, we move you off it, rankings intact. When it is not, we can build properly inside what you already have.
The short answer
What moving off Wix or Squarespace actually gets you: a site you own outright.
Moving off Wix or Squarespace means your domain, your code and your content sit in your own accounts instead of inside a platform you rent by the month, with the rank-safe redirect work done so nothing you have already earned gets lost in the move. Where a full move is not the right call yet, we build the same structure inside the platform you already pay for.
Both platforms will build you something that looks fine and says nothing on their own. A homepage with a slideshow, an about page, plus a contact form is not a site that ranks. It is a business card with a domain attached to it, and that gap is the same whether you stay or go.
What these platforms genuinely limit once a business grows into them: fine control at the page level, some structured-data setups, how redirects behave when URLs change in bulk, plus a performance ceiling you cannot build past. That is when the move pays for itself.
The fixable half without moving is structure: one page per service, one page per town you take calls from, prices where you are willing to publish them. All of that is possible on Wix. All of it is possible on Squarespace, right up until it is not.
So we will tell you which you are. A move that carries rankings across done right protects what you have already earned. Recommending one while your actual problem is four thin pages would be selling you a project instead of a fix.
What arrives
What you get, on or off the platform: 6 pieces of work.
- 01
A rank-safe way off, when you want it
We crawl every existing URL first and map it to its replacement, so the rankings you have already earned survive the move. Redesigns lose rankings by skipping exactly this step, and it is the first thing we do rather than the last.
- 02
A page for every service
One page per job you actually want, each answering what it is, who it suits, roughly what it costs. This is true whether the site lands on its own domain or stays inside your current platform.
- 03
Service-area pages that name the town
A real page for each town you take calls from, carrying work you did there. Not one template duplicated with a place name swapped out, which Google discounts on every platform equally.
- 04
Structured data added properly
The markup that tells Google and the AI assistants what your business is, what you do, where you work (schema). Both platforms allow custom code, so this is a limitation people repeat rather than a real one.
- 05
Speed past the platform ceiling
Oversized images, unused fonts, apps loading on every page whether used or not. We cut what we can inside the platform, and where the ceiling itself is the limit, that is the case for moving.
- 06
The phone number where a thumb is
Tappable, visible without scrolling, still visible halfway down. Both builders default to a header link that collapses on mobile, which costs emergency trades more calls than any ranking problem does.
Fit
Who this fits: 4 signs it is you.
This is for operators already paying for Wix or Squarespace, whether the honest next step is moving off it or getting more out of what you already have. We will tell you which before you spend anything.
This is you if:
- You want to own your domain and code outright instead of renting the platform under them.
- You have hit the platform's ceiling: a catalog it cannot carry, or a speed floor costing you calls.
- You are on Wix or Squarespace and the site looks fine but nothing calls, and staying put is still the right call.
- You were quoted a migration elsewhere and want a second opinion before you spend the money.
This is not you if:
- You want a catalog of 500 products. The builders will fight you the whole way, and a different platform is the honest answer.
- You need page-level control these platforms do not give: templating at scale, faceted navigation, server-side logic.
- You want the platform blamed for your rankings. Usually it is not the cause.
- You are already mid-migration with another developer, in which case finish that before adding a second opinion to it.
How the work runs

A free Snapshot first, back in a few business days, run the same way whether you sit on Wix, Squarespace or anything else. The fuller 300+ point teardown is there if you want it.
- 02
Answer the platform question
We say plainly whether moving off the platform is worth it or the site on it is just thin. That answer lands before you spend anything, including when it costs us the bigger project.
- 03
Build the structure
Service pages, service-area pages, the answers buyers actually type, the markup underneath. Built inside your existing account so nothing about your login changes.
- 04
Hand it back editable
Templates set so adding a page or changing a price stays a job you can do yourself. If you would rather not, the Care Plan covers small edits at $99 a month.
Proof, not a pitch
Built by people who ran the truck first.
We ran two service businesses out of the back of a truck on whatever website software was cheapest that year. The builder was never the reason the phone stayed quiet. A site with four pages on it always was.

Build
What it costs: published, not quoted.
Moving off Wix or Squarespace prices on the build ladder like any build, from $1,500 for a Starter site, with a rank-safe migration line item added wherever there are rankings that need to survive the move. Staying on the platform and restructuring what is there prices the same way. What moves the number is how many service and service-area pages you need.
Every build price, on one page| Tier | Price | What moves the number |
|---|---|---|
| Starter site The core site a local operator actually needs: services, service area, proof, plus a phone number that is never more than a thumb away. | $1,500 one-time | Page count, and how much of the content we write for you. Not included. Per-city page sets and published pricing pages are the Growth site. Ongoing search work is a separate monthly engagement. |
| Growth site The Starter site plus the pages that earn search traffic on their own: per-service and per-city pages, published pricing, and the proof library. | $2,500 one-time | How many service areas you need covered, and how many services get their own page. Not included. Custom application work sits in the Custom tier. Moving off an old site that already ranks? Rank-safe migration attaches to any build as a $400 line item. |
| Custom builds Larger builds and custom work, plus migrations where an existing site has rankings that have to survive the move. | from $3,000 one-time | Whether there are rankings to carry across, and how much of the build is bespoke rather than assembled. Not included. Rank-safe migration off an existing site attaches as a $400 line item where there are rankings to carry across. |
Objections and questions
Questions we get asked: 6 answers.
Most of these are one question in different wording: is my platform the reason? Here is the version of the answer that does not conveniently end in us selling you a migration.
Ask us something else Should I move off Wix or Squarespace?
Move when you have hit a real wall: a catalog the platform cannot carry, page-level control you genuinely need, or a speed floor costing you conversions you can measure, and you would rather own your domain and code outright than keep renting the platform under them. A move done right protects the rankings you already have: new URLs, a redirect map, a rebuild of every page, all handled so nothing gets lost in the switch. If the actual problem is four thin pages and no service-area coverage, moving will not fix that on its own, and we will say so before quoting a migration.
How much does it cost to move off Wix or Squarespace?
It prices on the build ladder like any build: $1,500 for a Starter site, $2,500 for Growth, both one-time, both handed over in accounts you own. A rank-safe migration line item gets added wherever there are rankings that need to survive the move. That is separate from what Wix or Squarespace charge for their own plan, which stops the day you leave. Ongoing upkeep and small edits are the Care Plan at $99 a month, and search work is a different ladder starting at $1,500 a month.
Is Wix bad for SEO?
No, and the reputation is about a decade out of date. Wix now gives you control of titles, meta descriptions, URLs, redirects, structured data, sitemaps, which covers most of what search actually reads. What it does not give you is unlimited control at scale or a performance ceiling as high as a site you own outright. For a local operator running 20 to 40 pages, neither of those is what is keeping you off page one. Thin content and missing service-area pages almost always are, and that is worth fixing whether or not you ever move.
Can you work on my existing Wix site or do you have to start over?
We work inside the account you already have, most of the time. Restructuring what is there is usually cheaper than a rebuild and it keeps whatever history the pages have already earned. The exception is a site built as one long scrolling page with everything piled onto it, because there is nothing underneath to restructure. Even then we build the page set properly inside your platform, and you keep the same login you use today.
What can't you do on Wix or Squarespace?
Four things, honestly. Fine-grained control over how templates render at scale, which starts to matter past a few dozen pages. Certain structured-data setups that want server-side rendering. Redirect handling that gets clunky when URLs change in bulk. A page-speed ceiling you cannot build past, because you do not control the underlying code. None of those stop a 30-page local service site from ranking. All of them bite on a large catalog, which is why we ask about your page count early.
Will I still be able to edit the site myself?
Yes, and that is a genuine argument for staying where you are. The editor stays the one you already know, so changing a price or adding a photo never becomes a support ticket. We set the page templates up so a new service page follows the existing pattern instead of being improvised each time. If you would rather hand small changes off, the Care Plan at $99 a month covers them, but it is optional and we would rather you kept the ability.
